Nammi Nammi

Matthew: This recipe comes from Jónsi & Alex, a side project of the Icelandic band Sigur Rós.  On their website, they have a cooking section with several raw food recipes.  I thought nammi nammi (translates to “yummi yummi”) would be a good, substantial afternoon snack for work since it has nuts and dates.  The prep was easy–the almonds, coconut, and dates all got pureed in the blender separately and then mixed together and formed into little balls.  A food processor or more powerful blender would probably work better to get things really ground up.  I had to add a little honey at the end to get everything to come together.

  1. That looks yummy! Did you use a recipe? Good for ‘fresh eating’!!

  2. Yeah, I used the recipe from the band website. It is basically a 1:1:1 ratio of almonds, coconut and dates.
